Girls Soccer advances to quarterfinals with shootout win over Ashland

Junior goalkeeper Vanessa Silva made three spectacular saves in a penalty-kick shootout to help HRV’s girls soccer team defeat Ashland 4-3 on Wednesday night at HRV, and sophomore Yaya Chavarria put the game away by making her PK. The Eagles’ next game is at Summit of Bend on Saturday–the time is not yet announced.

Silva had come up big all night for the Eagles, making several saves to maintain a shutout during the evenly-matched contest. The game was 0-0 after regulation, and still 0-0 after 20 minutes of overtime. In the shootout, junior Mona Diaz, junior Cielo Rivera, senior Jenissa Ramirez all made their shots before Chavarria nailed the game-winner.
