Hood River’s scariest ran last Saturday at dusk to raise funds for the HRVHS cross country team. The runners were separated into vampires and victims, at 6:30 the race began, the victims got a minute head start and were given a flag football belt, if they were overtaken by a designated vampire they would lose a flag. They ran into the trail and up into golden eagle park across the practice field and through the trail again. During the run the XC team was prepared to scare, plenty of screaming and cackling could be heard throughout the race. Jul Dolan the director of the race told me in an interview that, “the XC runners in costume really made a difference and were much scarier than our props!” Money raised from the run will go to new jerseys and warm ups for the varsity and junior varsity members in 2016.
