Boys Varsity Soccer Team is Successful in their Season So Far

By Jonathon Bolanos, Talon staff reporter

The Eagles played Hermiston on Tuesday and tied 2-2, managing to clinch the Columbia River Conference championship.

The team is ranked first as of now in the 5a division with a record of 10 wins, 3 draws and zero losses. In an interview with the varsity coach Jamie Rivera we asked him what he thinks about their season so far. He said, “because it is a new team compared to the championship team, we had to go through learning how to work this team and trust each other. I feel like we are there now.” He later mentioned that their game against Hermiston decided league championship and therefore they were very excited to play and “bring the bacon home.” To get a player’s point of view we interviewed senior Joel Garcia. He said that he didn’t expect the team to be as good as the team last year, but now he thinks they have the potential to be state champions again, “We’re a family now, and that’s what makes us better.”
