HRV District Track Meet By Abby Kinoshita
Wednesday May 13th and 15th, the Columbia River Conference held its district track meet, hosted by The Dalles High School. HRV came out on top winning the meet for the for the first time in many years.
These are the state qualifiers: The three time state champion, Jestena Mattson won the 100m dash, the 200m dash, and broke the school’s current high jump record at 5’7” and won the event and is headed to the state finals this Friday and Saturday. Emily Viuhkola won the 400m and the 800m. Lauren Robinson placed second in the 1500m and second in the 3000m. Marlie Bloomster got second place in the 300m hurdles. Our 4X400m relay team (Audrey Marble, Caitlyn Fick, Jestena Mattson, and Emily Viuhkola) got first place. Parker Kennedy won the 100m dash and pole vault. Parker Irusta got second in the 100m, first in the 200mm, and first in long jump breaking his personal best at 21’10”. Justin Crosswhite got first place in the 1500m and in the 3000m. Quinn Fetkenhour placed second place in the 1500m. Mason McDowell pulled out a stunning victory in the 110m hurdles placing first place. Our boys 4X100m relay team (Gabriel Campos- Davis, Tyrone Stintzi, Parker Kennedy, and Parker Irusta) took second place. Sebastian Barajas, a two time state champion in Discus and shotput won both and broke the state discus record at 188’11”. Tyrone Stintzi placed first in high jump at 6’2”. And Patrick Crompton got second place in pole vault.
