Local Employers Need You!

Written by Talon Staff Reporters Anneke Virk and Hope Kaady

Are you looking to make some extra money this summer? Now is a great time to apply for a local summer job! Businesses usually become flooded with tourists in May, so applying in March would give you a head-start and perhaps ensure you a consistent job all summer long. Hood River currently has a wide array of job openings.

If you’re looking to work as a host or hostess, several restaurants are looking for help. Sixth Street Bistro and Three Rivers Grill are all looking to hire teenagers for the summer. In addition to minimum wage, you can also earn money from the tips customers leave. If you are over the age of 18, or will be at the beginning of the summer, you are in the running for a job as a waiter or waitress. Working as a waiter or waitress would increase your salary. Saw Tooth Roadhouse is currently searching for a waiter or waitress.

For a more casual environment, apply for a job at The Ranch! Or become a member of the Pita Pit Crew. Both of these places are requesting an outgoing person who is self-motivated, and willing to work on weekdays.

If you are busy on the weekdays and you love dogs, you could apply for a job at Gorge Dog, downtown Hood River. Gorge Dog is looking for a part-time employee who is willing to work on weekends. You would need to be outgoing, friendly, and ready to help incoming customers and their furry friends.

There is also help needed on a small farm in Odell. You could choose your own hours, but you need your own form of transportation. Tasks include weed-eating, pruning ornamental plants, various clean-up and very light construction jobs. You must be physically fit, and willing to give 110% effort into every job you do. Because you can choose your own hours, this could be a great second job if you’re looking to make some extra cash.
