Tuesday September 16th, Hood River Valley girls Water Polo had their first game in HRVHS history. They battled it out against the Hillsboro Spartans losing 7-17. HRV played a good, hard game. Junior Payton Rigert stated, “I think the game went awesome, we all played really hard and it was our first game, so it was really good!” This is the first year Hood River Valley High School has had a girl’s Water Polo team and for most of the girl’s on the team, it was their first time ever playing a full length game. “I decided to play Water Polo because, one I had a lot of friends playing who told me to play, and two I wasn’t playing a sport and I love sports, and I needed a sport to play, and that’s about it.” Said Sophomore Sloan Hall. Junior Annika Martinez’s favorite part of Water Polo is getting to know her teammates and improving as a team, she was so proud of how hard everyone played and hopes to keep getting better. We hope to see HRV’s first girl’s Water Polo team keep improving and working hard. Good luck this season ladies!
