Behind state championships from Sebastian Barajas in the discus and Parker Kennedy in the pole vault and a strong all-around performance from Parker Irusta, HRV’s boys Track and Field team won the state championship in Eugene today.
Irusta finished fourth in the 100, third in the 200, and seventh in the long jump, while also anchoring the third-place 4×100 relay, which included teammates Kennedy, Gabe Campos-Davis, and Tyrone Stinzi. Stinzi also earned seventh in the 100 and third in the high jump, while Kennedy added to his title in the pole vault with a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles. In distance races, Justin Crosswhite scored points in both the 1500 (seventh place) and the 3000 (fourth place).
Barajas broke his own school record by ten feet on his first throw at the event. He has won four state titles in the discus, and also took second in the shot put.
