Eagle Lacrosse Takes on Century High School Tonight!

By Talon Staff Reporters Anneke Virk and Hope Kaady

Spring is here, and so are spring sports!  The Lacrosse team has won 3 of their 5 games and is expecting a victorious season. Come support them in their games throughout these next few weeks, it is sure to be an exciting end to the season.

Senior lacrosse goalie, Dallen Olmstead, has high hopes for this season. “The whole team is stoked for this year. We have an awesome lineup and everyone is super committed.” Olmstead also comments on the loss of last year’s seniors: “Yeah, it was definitely hard to lose them, but there are a bunch of skilled underclassmen who are really stepping up.” There are two other seniors on the team besides Olmstead: Alex Buschauer and Kiefer Kreps. Olmstead has played lacrosse all throughout his time here at Hood River Valley High School, and says he is happy to be ending his lacrosse career with this year’s team.

The team has two head coaches: Matt Luchsinger and George Dolack. Both coaches are very involved in the community and respected by their team. Luchsinger is the owner of NW Balanced Dog Training and both Luchsinger and Dolack are employed at Big Winds. This is the first year without John Monk as one of the team’s head coaches in a while; “We are adjusting to the change pretty well” says Olmstead.

The Varsity boy’s lacrosse team has blank games left in its season; blank of which will take place right here at HRVHS! Junior lacrosse player, Torsenn Brown, says it really motivates the team to do their best when there’s a good turnout at their games. “The crowd really pushes us. We obviously want to impress our school.

Be sure to support the Varsity boy’s lacrosse team for the remainder of their season!
